| Why use Pedal Xtenders? | Have the car YOU want, not the car you fit | What are the advantages? |
Hello, I am Paul Ringrose, and I welcome you to the Vehicle Pedal Xtenders website. It is a bit of a mouthful, but we do what it says in the title: we extend brake, clutch and accelerator pedals. So what gave me the idea in the first place? It is simple really and I was later shocked to find that there was no product on the market to combat this very dangerous and largely ignored problem. I had noticed that many people - male and female; old and young; thin and not so thin - were sitting hazardously close to the steering wheel. Therefore, I decided to conduct a short survey and I was suprised to find that, when asked, most people just accept that they have to sit that close to be able to drive at all. They were however shocked to find that they were in some peril because of their driving position. Sitting too close to the steering wheel means the airbag (if present) will not operate correctly. An airbag needs a minimum of 8 inches from its nearest point of car dashboard to the nearest part of the driver (generally lower chest or stomach), although the preferred distance is 12 inches. Most handbooks will clearly state that if you must sit close to the steering wheel, it is advised to turn the airbag off as it may not work correctly and may cause personal injury when it operates. On the other hand, having the airbag deactivated presents other obvious risks. During impact in an accident, your body is thrown forward. As you move forward at a rapid speed, you can suffer internal injuries such as organ damage and internal bleeding. Sometimes the seatbelt can inflict bruising, but if you make contact with the steering wheel due to being too close, more serious injuries are likely. After an accident it may not be possible to remove you from the car without cutting you from the wreckage, which in itself can be hazardous. It is likely that your legs could also become trapped causing further complications. In conclusion; for those who are forced to sit too close to the steering wheel, there will always be a risk unless the distance between the body and the steering wheel is increased. This is what gave me the idea of developing an extension to be attached onto pedals, giving the user the benefit of approximately 4 inches extra leg-length. These 4 inches will increase the time it takes for you move towards the steering wheel or airbag, allowing the airbag to inflate correctly and the momentum of the body in the collision to be reduced. If you are further back from the steering wheel you can also look over you shoulder and see more of what's going on around you; reverse more safely and easily; have better access to the centre console; feel less cramped; put your seat in a better position and get in and out of your car with greater ease; slide your foot on the pedals instead of hovering it, if you have small feet. Have you ever found yourself wanting to buy a car that suits your purpose, only to find that you cannot reach the pedals properly? Well, we can supply a set of pedals for any vehicle on the road. We will even invite you to our developement center where we will create for you a specific set if you have a specialist or rare car. There will be no change in the price and we will even ensure you feel comfortable by giving you a cup of coffee and some biscuits while you wait. As a company, we have a number of aims and goals, not only as a developing company but on a personal professional level with our customers: We want you to be safe when driving; we want to reduce severe injuries that are suffered when crashing and we want you to enjoy your driving. We also have financial hopes, and not only about our profits, but concerning government costs. All governments spend millions of pounds, euros and dollars every year on emergency services: removing people from cars; looking after people involved in terrible accidents; insurance companies spending millions on compensation and costs for repairs and personal injury claims. I am fully aware that in times of recession an item of this kind may not be considered an important item to purchase, as none of us intend to crash and nobody thinks it will happen to them. However, we all have people around us that we care about and would hate to see harm come to them. £299.99 is not too high a price to pay for your safety or the safety of any driver. Every time somebody walks away from an accident, luck has been on their side. Help luck out; give yourself a chance and reduce the risk. Thankyou for reading my personal monologue, I hope you have found it informative. Do not hesitate to contact us for any further information if you have any queries - we have a good ear and are always willing to advise when necessary. Paul Ringrose Managing Director and Founder |
